Claire’s®, the specialty retailer of fashion jewelry and accessories, donated the “Bloom” kinetic art sculpture in the hospital’s pediatric lobby. Donor-funded window artwork on an inpatient unit also contributed to a colorful, welcoming hospital environment.
Families in cancer treatment, like Theresa’s, as well as those in hospice care, received additional complementary therapies and support services. “We use complementary art, music and massage services not only in hospice care but also in bereavement,” says Bonnie O’Guinn, director of clinical operations for AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Hospice and Palliative Care. “It’s absolutely astounding the ways in which these therapies enable individuals, including children, to work through their grief.”
